Be Mine

There is just over a week left until Valentine's Day -- are you sending any cards this year? We found several vintage Valentines during a recent dig through our postcard collection. Here are some of the ones we've reproduced to add to the Castle in the Air postcard rack this year. In my opinion, the old card-makers had more fun!

Which key will open the lock?

I've always preferred Cupid's use of his arrows to that of his keyring -- gotta love the direct approach.

This one is sweet, and of course I love it all the more because of its nods to Fairyland.

I can figure out the significance of the Two of Hearts, but one shudders to think what this fellow might be suggesting here.

And just like at Christmas, all our nears and dears can join in the fun of Valentine's Day.

So Karima,

Wait first are you back from your little trip??

Now I'm thinking that if I were to receive that last card from my Valentine he would be the one sleeping in the dog...that is the pet house!!! Or maybe that is what the 2 of heart's is calling the maid "My Pet indeed" :)

Have a good day and stop by when you have a bit of time.

Hi Karima,

Welcome back! I love these Valentine cards, especially the Fairy ring one.

Best wishes,

Hi again Karima,

I'm so happy to hear that you're trying to make artdolls. I know it seems really hard at first, but I promise it gets easier and there are less complicated ways to make artdolls. My first advice to you is to start simple. It is easier to start with a partial sculpt (head, hands and feet) than a full sculpt. If you mess one part up, like a hand, you can just toss it and make only that part again, instead of having to scrap the whole doll. When I buy my dream cottage I will give classes there and you are welcome to visit-in the meantime just ask away and I will help via internet!

Big Hugs,
